A debutante society is asking one of our licensees for a proposal. The licensee and I spoke yesterday and today I am sharing some of the guidance I gave her as a new etiquette expert.
Advice on Writing Proposals for a Debutante Organization As a New Etiquette Expert:
Understand the Purpose: Before diving into writing the proposal, make sure you understand the purpose of the debutante organization and what they aim to achieve. This will help you tailor your proposal to meet their specific needs and goals.
Research: Familiarize yourself with the debutante culture, traditions, and etiquette standards. Research past events, protocols, and successful proposals to gather insights into what has worked well in the past and what can be improved upon.
Identify Key Components: Break down the proposal into key components such as event logistics, program structure, etiquette training modules, budget considerations, and marketing strategies. Each component should be detailed and well-thought-out to ensure a comprehensive proposal.
Highlight Expertise: As a new etiquette expert, emphasize your expertise, credentials, and unique approach to etiquette training. Showcase how your services can enhance the debutante experience and add value to the organization.
Customize Solutions: Tailor your proposal to the specific needs and preferences of the debutante organization. Offer customized solutions and recommendations based on their objectives, audience demographics, and cultural context.
Address Challenges: Anticipate and address potential challenges or objections that the organization may have. Whether it’s budget constraints, scheduling conflicts, or logistical issues, demonstrate your problem-solving skills and flexibility in finding solutions.
Emphasize Benefits: Clearly outline the benefits of partnering with you as the etiquette expert. Highlight how your expertise can elevate the organization’s image, enhance participant experiences, and contribute to the overall success of their events.
Provide Examples: Incorporate real-life examples, case studies, or testimonials to illustrate the effectiveness of your approach and the positive outcomes it has generated for other organizations or clients.
Include a Call to Action: Conclude the proposal with a clear call to action, inviting the debutante organization to take the next steps, whether it’s scheduling a meeting, signing a contract, or requesting additional information.
Follow Up: After submitting the proposal, follow up with the organization to answer any questions, address concerns, and reinforce your commitment to supporting their needs. Personalize your follow-up communication to demonstrate your genuine interest and dedication to their success.
By following these steps and incorporating your expertise as a new etiquette expert, you can create a compelling proposal that effectively communicates your value proposition and secures opportunities to collaborate with other debutante organizations.

Pitching your expertise as a newly certified and trained etiquette expert to non-profits can be a valuable opportunity to offer your services and make a positive impact.
This article shows you how to pitch non-profits as an etiquette expert -whether you are new or have experience.
Steps to Effectively Pitch Services as a New Etiquette Expert
Research Non-Profits: Identify non-profit organizations whose missions align with your expertise in etiquette. Look for organizations that could benefit from etiquette training for their staff, volunteers, donors, or the populations they serve.
Understand Their Needs: Before reaching out, take the time to understand the specific needs and challenges of each non-profit. Consider how improved etiquette and interpersonal skills could enhance their operations, fundraising efforts, community engagement, or other aspects of their work.
Craft a Compelling Pitch: Develop a concise and compelling pitch that highlights the value you can bring to the non-profit. Focus on how your expertise in etiquette can help them achieve their goals, improve their professional image, and enhance their relationships with stakeholders.
Tailor Your Approach: Customize your pitch for each non-profit based on their mission, goals, and challenges. Personalize your message to demonstrate that you’ve done your homework and understand their unique needs.
Highlight Benefits: Clearly articulate the benefits of etiquette training for the non-profit, such as improved communication, enhanced teamwork, increased professionalism, and stronger relationships with donors, clients, and the community.
Provide Examples or Testimonials: If you have prior experience working with non-profits or other organizations, provide examples or testimonials that demonstrate the impact of your expertise. Highlight successful outcomes and positive feedback from past clients.
Offer a Solution: Propose a tailored solution or package of services that addresses the specific needs of the non-profit. This could include workshops, seminars, individual coaching sessions, or ongoing consulting support.
Be Professional and Polite: When reaching out to non-profits, maintain a professional and polite demeanor. Respect their time and priorities, and be prepared to follow up as needed.
Follow Up: After making your initial pitch, follow up with the non-profit to answer any questions they may have and discuss next steps. Persistence and proactive communication can help keep your proposal top of mind.
Be Flexible: Be open to negotiating terms and adapting your proposal to meet the non-profit’s budgetary constraints or scheduling preferences. Flexibility and willingness to accommodate their needs can increase your chances of securing a partnership.

Behind the Scenes of an Afternoon Tea Virtual Instruction
My goal on Monday was to offer an exceptional experience while giving a tutorial on afternoon tea for our newly trained etiquette expert, Leilani Colvert. A link to her new website is listed below.
If I were to list out my dream experiences of “to do’s” in life, afternoon tea will always be on the top.
A successful afternoon tea virtual training requires meticulous planning, and seamless execution behind the scenes to create a memorable experience for participants.
And I enjoyed every second of it.
I started on Sunday evening with the camera set-up. Next, I pulled out the tea “accoutrements”.
What are Tea Accoutrements?
Tea accoutrements refer to the various items and accessories used in the preparation, serving, and enjoyment of tea. These items enhance the tea-drinking experience and can range from functional tools to decorative pieces.
Here Are Some Common Tea Accoutrements:
Teapots: Used for brewing tea, teapots come in various materials such as ceramic, glass, cast iron, and clay. They often have built-in infusers or removable strainers to hold loose tea leaves while steeping.
Tea Infusers/Strainers: These are used to hold loose tea leaves while steeping in hot water. They come in different shapes and sizes, including ball-shaped infusers, basket infusers, and tea filters.
Tea Cups/Mugs: Cups or mugs are used for serving brewed tea. They can be made of porcelain, ceramic, glass, or other materials, and may come in various designs and sizes.
Tea Saucers: Saucers are small plates designed to hold tea cups. They catch any drips or spills and can also be used to hold small snacks or accompaniments.
Tea Spoons: Used for stirring tea and adding sweeteners or milk, tea spoons are smaller than regular spoons and often have a more delicate design.
Tea Towels: Used for wiping spills, drying hands, or handling hot teapots or cups, tea towels are typically made of absorbent fabric and may feature decorative designs.
Tea Caddies: Containers used for storing and organizing tea leaves. They come in various materials such as wood, metal, ceramic, and glass, and may have airtight seals to preserve freshness.
Tea Trays: Also known as tea boards or tea boats, these trays are used to catch any drips or spills during tea preparation and serving. They come in various sizes and materials, including bamboo, wood, and plastic.
Tea Scoops: Used for measuring out the right amount of loose tea leaves, tea scoops (also called tea spoons) come in various sizes and materials, often matching the overall tea set.
Tea Timers: Timers are used to ensure the tea is steeped for the correct amount of time, resulting in optimal flavor. They can be mechanical, digital, or even integrated into other devices like tea infusers.
These are just a few examples of tea accoutrements commonly used in the tea-drinking process.
Depending on cultural traditions and personal preferences, tea enthusiasts may also incorporate other items such as tea trays, tea ceremony utensils, and decorative elements into their tea setups.
